§ 18-99. General restrictions.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person in Lake Waxahachie to catch, take or attempt to catch and take any fish, or to possess any fish taken by any method, means or device, except by ordinary pole and line, rod and reel, fly rod or throw line equipped with no more than two (2) hooks or trotline equipped with not more than thirty hooks spaced not less than four (4) feet apart. The use of trotlines is limited to one trotline per person, or not more than two (2) trotlines per party of two (2) or more persons, and no metallic trotlines shall be used. No two (2) trotlines, or more, shall be connected together in any manner, and no trotline shall be within two hundred (200) feet of any boat, dock or pier, bathing pier or beach, ski jump or ski run or any place commonly used as a swimming or recreational area by the public.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to fish for, take, catch or attempt to catch any fish in the waters of Lake Waxahachie by any net, seine, snag line, trap or any other device not herein authorized, and the possession of any tackle not authorized by this chapter within two hundred (200) yards of Lake Waxahachie shall be prima facie evidence of violation of this chapter.
