§ 6-68. Disposition of bitten animals.

  • Animals bitten by a known rabid animal shall be immediately destroyed. If the owner is unwilling to destroy the exposed animal, and the animal does not have current rabies vaccination, three (3) vaccinations and strict isolation of the animal in a kennel for ninety (90) days shall be enforced. If the animal has been previously vaccinated, within time limits established by the public health service based on the kind of vaccination used, revaccination and restraint (leashing and confinement) for forty-five (45) days shall be carried out.
