§ 14-22. Location of containers.

  • (a)

    Where alleys are used by collecting trucks, containers shall be placed on the alley line and must not be so placed as to intrude upon the traveled portion of the alley. If a fence without a gate separates an alley from the yard where containers are located, a platform for the containers shall be so constructed that its top shall be level with and adjoining the top of the fence. All such platforms must be constructed entirely to the back of the property line and no part or same may be in an alley.

    (b)

    Where streets are used by collecting trucks, the containers shall be placed adjacent to and back of the curb or adjacent to and back of the ditch if there is not a curb.

    (c)

    Business and commercial establishments shall set out their containers on the curb or alley line at such times and places as shall be prescribed by the department of environmental health, and as soon as practicable after such containers have been emptied they shall be removed to a place within the establishment and shall remain there until the next prescribed time for setting them out for collection.

    (d)

    The department of environmental health shall have authority to direct the times, places and manner of setting out containers for collection.
