§ 14-27. Yard waste collection.

  • The city will not pick up yard waste with the regular residential garbage service. Special collections for yard waste will need to be scheduled with the city. Collection dates and times will be designated by the city based on quantity of requests and personnel availability. The approved container will consist of no more than thirty-gallon capacity bags and not to exceed fifty (50) pounds of weight each. Bags larger than the approved size and weight will not be picked up. The fee schedule for yard waste collection will be kept on file in the environmental health department and on file in the office of the city secretary.

    (a)

    Tree limbs, brush and hedge trimming disposal. Individuals may put out with their garbage one (1) tied bundle of tree limbs, brush, and/or hedge trimmings per pickup. The bundle shall not exceed three (3) feet in length or exceed two (2) inches in diameter per limb, branch, or trunk and not to exceed fifty (50) pounds in weight. Each resident will also have available to them four (4) free collections of tree limbs and hedge trimmings at their residence. Each collection shall consist of eight (8) cubic yards or less of tree limbs and hedge trimmings.

    (b)

    Free leaf collection. Two (2) times per year the city will collect bagged leaves and yard waste at no cost to each resident. Each bag shall be no larger than thirty-gallon capacity and weigh no more than fifty (50) pounds. Each collection day will be determined by city staff.
