§ 6-16. Dogs running at large prohibited.

  • (a)

    No person owning, possessing, or harboring any dog shall permit such dog to run at large within this city at any time.

    (b)

    It is unlawful for any person to permit any cat or dog owned, kept or harbored by any person which shall be infected with or suffering from any mange, distemper or contagious or dangerous disease to be or run at large in the city. Any cat or dog so found at large which shall be infected with or suffering from any mange, distemper, or contagious or dangerous disease shall be deemed a public nuisance and may be forthwith taken up and summarily destroyed at the expense and cost of the owner, keeper, or person harboring the cat or dog.

    (c)

    Any dog impounded for running at large shall be required to be re-vaccinated for rabies if the vaccine is not current within the previous twelve (12) months.
